My name is Justine Houyaux and I am a PhD researcher in translation studies based in Belgium. My research focuses on the transfer strategies of the untranslatable in the French translations of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll from 1869 to 2009. That being said, I’ve been so drawn to the Interwar reception of Carroll in France and the Surrealists that I might have strayed away from my original path. It is all right.

As a researcher, I have contributed to a few very interesting projects, such as Alice in a World of Wonderlands (2015) or the exclusive interview of Jean-François Ménard (the French translator of Harry Potter) in 2017. You can have a look at my publications here, take a peek at my ongoing and past projects here, or check out my curriculum vitae there.
